Dan Patlak is the host of Municipal Matters.
Dan Patlak is an established political professional who has worked on or consulted for more than 100 political campaigns. Mr. Patlak began his career in political consulting as a volunteer for a wide variety of candidates and organizations including the George Bush Presidential campaign of 1988 and the taxpayer advocate organization Citizens Against Government Waste.
His gained notoriety as Press Secretary for the Al Salvi United States Senate campaign in Illinois when his relatively unknown candidate defeated Illinois’ sitting Lt. Governor in what is considered the biggest upset victory in the history of Illinois politics.
In 2002 Dan authored an extremely popular article in C & E magazine titled How to Get on the Radio—A Big Earned Media Campaign Opportunity. He also authored another article titled Announcing Your Candidacy: Checklist for a successful Kickoff that appeared in the May 2003 issue of C & E.
In 2005 Patlak was elected Wheeling Township Assessor in Cook County Illinois.
In addition to maintaining a successful political consulting practice, Mr. Patlak served from 1999 to 2006 as the Director of Communications for Commissioner Maureen Murphy of the Cook County Board of Review. While at the Board Patlak also specialized in analyzing appeals from residential, commercial and exempt properties.
